Bio:
Ulf Schmitz is an Associate Professor of Bioinformatics and Associate Dean Research at the College of Science & Engineering at James Cook University. His research combines computational biology, genomics, and artificial intelligence to understand the molecular mechanisms of disease and accelerate precision medicine.

His current research focuses on RNA splicing and transcriptomics in cancer and chronic disease, single-cell long-read sequencing technologies, bioinformatics method development, and AI-driven approaches for biomarker discovery and immunotherapy. He leads collaborative projects spanning breast cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, kidney disease, and head and neck cancer.
