Dr Olga Shimoni is a biochemist and nanotechnology expert who manages the RNA Innovation Foundry at the University of Western Australia (UWA), leading the manufacture and supply of mRNA therapeutics to researchers and industry partners. She brings essential expertise in mRNA manufacturing and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology, with deep, hands-on experience optimising nanoparticle formulations for stability, potency, and targeted delivery.

Olga built her early career in academia, holding prestigious fellowships and securing multiple competitive grants, while publishing extensively in high-impact journals and leading collaborative research programs. During the pandemic, she transitioned into industry, leading R&D on a novel infectious disease diagnostic test before going on to lead the translation of nanoparticle technologies into commercial healthcare products.

Olga now brings this blend of academic rigour and industry pragmatism to UWA, building world-class infrastructure to accelerate the delivery of mRNA therapeutics to the research and biotech community.
