a/prof GAVIN KNOTT

the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute

Gavin is a Snow Fellow and leads the Discovery and Design Laboratory in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. Gavin obtained his PhD from the University of Western Australia in 2016 where he studied long non-coding RNA-binding proteins before completing his post-doctoral training researching CRISPR at the University of California, Berkeley. Gavin is passionate about RNA biology, gene editing, and exploring how microbes have evolved to sense foreign nucleic acid. His lab's research program aims to leverage nature's toolbox through discovery to design tools for RNA biotechnology.
