CHARLIE BOND, University of Western Australia

Charlie completed a degree in Chemistry with Industrial Experience and a PhD in Protein Crystallography at the University of Manchester. Following postdocs at the Universities of Sydney (with Mitchell Guss) and Dundee (with Bill Hunter), he started his own lab at Dundee with a BBSRC David Philips Fellowship. Since 2006 he has been a Professor at the University of Western Australia. Charlie wants to understand how the spatial arrangement of biological molecules in complexes dictates their function. He is particularly interested in protein:nucleic acid interactions, and their functions in gene regulatory complexes in eukaryotes. He loves collaborating, to combine his expertise in crystallography, bioinformatics, biochemistry and molecular biology, with experts in cell biology and other computational and biophysical techniques
